Home → How To Use the Earth911.com Manager → How to Manage Curbside Recycling Listings → Restrictions and Curbside Recycling on Earth911.com
On Earth911.com1 when a visitor searches for a material accepted by the local Curbside Recycling Program, the curbside program is displayed as the first result on the list. This program appears at the top of the list because the listings are presented in order of resources closest to you to farthest (within the search radius).
The listing also contains the text Curbside Recycling Program and uses a blue recycling icon, rather than a green map flag or no graphic.
Since the curbside program comes to your house, there is no closer service. Since you can only use your municipal program, other curbside programs in the area will not appear on the list.
To ensure that your curbside program appears at the top of the list, the Restrictions for the program must be provided.
So when entering your Curbside Program, take extra care that the restrictions describe everyone in the area that is eligible to receive curbside recycling service. You can use City, County and Zip Code restrictions, or any combination of these to get the eligible are correct.
1Earth911.com's recycilng listings are used by many different websites. Those that use the Application Programming Interface (or API) to display listings, can apply whatever logic they wish. This means that the use of restrictions on curbside programs may not result in the same elevated listings on API driven sites.
